In April 1943, Warsaw is burning. The Germans brutally suppress the uprising in the ghetto, turning the entire district into a sea of fire. Amid chaos and death, Leszek Grzywaczewski, a young Polish firefighter, documents the unimaginable - he takes 33 photographs, the only known civilian images of this crime. Eighty years later, his son, Maciej, discovers a forgotten negative and begins an investigation that changes his life. As he uncovers more clues, he comes to know a father he never truly knew - a man entangled in history, a witness to tragedy, a quiet hero, a man who did not look away.

Roma, a survivor of the ghetto, saw these images as a little girl. They never left her. All her life she tried to forget, though she knew it was impossible.
